Coastal Aruba Refinery

San Nicolas, Aruba, 2001

This project, encompassing most of the year 2001, was the largest ever completed by IMTC-MEI to date. A major fire erupted in the refinery and essentially destroyed two large operating units.

Due to the familiarity of IMTC-MEI with operations in this refinery, gained through participation in many previous projects, a contract was awarded for IMTC-MEI to head up the repair and rebuild activities in these units. Logistical operations began immediately and peaked at a workforce of 400 IMTC-MEI personnel, 100 engineers, and 800 subcontractor personnel, supervised by IMTC-MEI.

The two units were rebuilt and back on line in December 2001, to the complete satisfaction of company management, refinery management, and the insurance carrier. IMTC-MEI also established an impressive safety record of 2,000,000 man-hours without a lost-time accident.

San Nicolas, Aruba, 1999

This 33,000 manhour project involved the rework of three large process heaters, and required close coordination between the refinery site in Aruba and fabrication activities in the U.S. The project took place in 1999.
